We have also strengthened our partnership with the on-campus Bronfman Center, which has weekly Shabbat dinners. Latest project/campaign : Last semester we expanded to include our third ‘all-you-can-eat’ style dining hall. Mission : A student run club dedicated to feeding the hungry and homeless population in New York City while reducing the amount of food wasted in NYU dining halls. Primarily, the food is delivered to the Bowery Mission and the First Presbyterian church. These volunteers are paired up in groups of four (or larger) to complete the deliveries. How they do it : We have over 100 active volunteers who participate in delivers anywhere from once a week, to once a month. What they do: Six days a week, student volunteers pick up food from various NYU dining halls and centers that would otherwise be thrown out at the end of each day and deliver it to a local homeless shelter or soup kitchen. With these goals in mind, we are able to kill Two Birds with One Stone.
